Making a Shift in Our Work Goes Beyond “Your Why:” Post 2 of 3

by | Nov 1, 2021 | Soul-Full Purpose and Business

Hey, Fellow Women and Womxn! We chatted about two B’s last week that folks have been craving more of lately, as the pandemic’s gone on: Boundaries and Balance. Boundaries started off our series that’s going further into November and if you’d like to read the last post, here’s that link.

But this week we’ll go into how critical it is to create, hold space for, and maintain, a balance. As I’ve already said, we can’t keep pushing boundaries out further at risk to ourselves. I’d also think that keeping up imbalances could be risky, though, I’ll be the first to admit to you, it’s easier said than done some days.

Pro Tip: Having a balance in our life and our work seems to be another way to create or reshape our boundaries. In a way, they work hand-in-hand as we change and grow, both personally and professionally.

Let’s be honest with each other… Sometimes we spend months or years dedicating ourselves to a job or tasks in our work where we may not feel aligned. Perhaps they’re a resume-builder and we’re growing comfortable in new experiences. Maybe realigning ourselves and growing in our job(s) help us reach a new level of awareness. Do you feel or sense when things don’t feel aligned in the work you do? Perhaps it shows itself as overwhelm, not feeling aligned, or like we’re out of our groove. Or, maybe we feel this disconnect between what we are doing and what we could be doing, using our full potential. So, it’s a perfect time to reflect when, where, or how, we may “have a gap” in our work.

When You Feel There’s “a Gap” In Your Work or a Disconnect…

As already mentioned last week, boundaries help us not split ourselves in too many directions… Want to know an antidote to splitting? It may sound simple, but balance brings all our pieces back to center, back to a Grounded Self. And it’s from this sense of Self that holds strength, our intuition, and what can make gains in life that we don’t even anticipate.

Over the months, I’ve seen where I could hold more boundaries for my own success. I’ll talk more about those next week, but I can tell you that I’m creating a new boundary that I’ve never tried before. Yep, just one, but it’s to find a balance and not lose myself in my work (which has happened over the years). Getting a new boundary implemented and paying attention to how I am balancing my work is going to be a saving grace. It may not sound huge though I may find the following:

  • Time
  • Focus
  • Energy
  • Outreach

One boundary to provide all this? *Pretend there’s a shocked face emoji here*

Creating balance from one boundary? Totally priceless.

How Does Creating and Holding a Balance Really Help in Our Work?

When we have a sense of balance, we seem to feel more confident in how we show up. How we present ourselves, and how we may literally walk into a room. Another beautiful thing about being balanced is it makes us better equipped to reflect on where we’re at and where we’d like to make changes. If we’re frazzled, we won’t be too clear-headed or heart-guided.

–>Boundaries + Balance = a two-part gift to Future Us. Add in “your why,” as we’ve talked about before, and you’ll be unstoppable. When we do this we can make headway in our work and make a plan of action that will transform with us. If you’d like ideas on how to create some stability and balance in your life right now, I jotted down 15 ideas in this post a while back.

Next week I’ll share with you one boundary I’m establishing and one method of balance I’ve identified to create more success in my work. If I try to do too much at once some things fall through the cracks. So, simplification is the key, y’all!

Tune in next week for the update and I’d love to hear what you think of this formula for success: one boundary + one method of balance.
